The new BMW iX3 was announced back in July and it marks the first all electric SUV BMW has offered to date, this time naturally sitting under the i brand, alongside the existing i3 city car – the i8 super car was recently discontinued. The new iX3 is fully electric and sits on the same platform for the existing X3 combustion car, with a 80kWh battery, 0-60mph in 6.8 seconds and a limited top speed of 112mph. The electric motor provides 282bhp to the rear wheels only.
The iX3 supports rapid charging at 150kW DC which will take the car from 0% charge to 80% in just 34 minutes. In terms of range, BMW claims a WLTP range of 285 miles, which for a vehicle of its size and weight is quite impressive, the iX3 is 2185kg.
The BMW iX3 range will start at £61,900 at launch for the Premier Edition and then £64,900 for the Premier Edition Pro. Pre-orders are available now and deliveries starting in summer 2021.
The Premier Edition has 20-inch alloy wheels, electric boot, adaptive suspension, panoramic sunroof, heated front seats and wireless phone charging. Premier Edition Pro adds heads up display, Harman Kardon sound system and much more.
