Telegram has announced its new premium subscription, after it previewed what was coming last week. The new plan is $4.99 per month and adds things like larger file uploads, new stickers, new animated profile pictures and more.

For non-paying users, the current file limit for uploads is 2GB, but Premium users will be able send files up to 4GB in size. However, even if someone sends a larger file – anyone can download them, even if they don’t pay. However, paid users will be able to download them at unrestricted speeds.

Premium users will also be able to follow up to 1,000 channels, the current is stuck at 500. Users will also get access to some new, unique stickers and new badges.

Telegram is also adding support for animated profile pictures and longer bios. Telegram also mentioned that the app became one of the top five downloaded apps in 2022 and now has 700 million active monthly users.
