MG has recently launched its smallest car yet, much smaller than the MG3 hatchback. The new MG Comet will go on sale in India priced from ₹798,000 (£7,800) and is aimed at the younger segment of the market. The dimensions place it at just slightly bigger than the Citroën Ami and around the same size as the Volkswagen up!

Powering the Comet is a 17.3kWh battery pack, with a range of 143 miles. The motor is a 41bhp unit with 110lb ft of torque. To help keep the front end flat, the Comet is rear wheel drive. Charging via DC is not supported, but AC is done at 3.3kW meaning a 0-100% charge will take seven hours.

Inside, there is plenty of modern tech, including two 10.25in displays for the driver and infotainment as well as supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Customers in India will be able to order the Comet in the next few months and it is not expected to go on sale here in the UK.
